About Us

Welcome to our blog!  Teacher’s Choice is run by Jessica (Mrs. Crawford) and Jacqueline (Mrs. Terbrack).  We are both high school teachers with a passion for reading and encouraging our students to read.  We have the opportunity to work together as co-teachers.  We hope to use our blog to share our experiences in the classroom as we increase student choice in reading.  We will also review books we and our students have enjoyed.  We see this as a great way to spread our love of reading and to connect with other readers.

About Jessica

I graduated from Western Michigan University in 2006 with a degree in Secondary Education with a major in English and a minor in history.  While I always loved to read, I fell in love with Young Adult Literature in a reading methods course when I read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson.  In my six years as a high school English teacher, I have been working on building a classroom library to expose students to great titles and help them develop a love for reading.  I earned my Master’s Degree in the Art of Teaching with an emphasis on Reading in 2012.  You can follow me on Twitter at @jesbog623.

About Jacqueline

I graduated from Central Michigan University (clearly the superior choice for a Michigan school) in 2003 with a degree in education. I have majors in Cognitive Impairments and English. I have always been a big reader, and remember my parents taking me to our local bookstore when I was younger and letting me pick out any book I wanted. Back then my options were very limited, and I am seriously jealous of the wealth of well-written, age-appropriate, interesting material available for young adults right now. This fascination led me to pursue a degree in School Library Media and I received my Master’s degree in 2009.
